Using Free Tools
Once you have found an appropriate niche related keyword phrase and decided how you are going to construct your site, the next thing to do is to study and analyze your competition, because there is a lot that you can learn by doing so. You do this for a couple of reasons:
• Since your goal is to get into the top three search
engine results quickly, you need to know how difficult this will
be. If the competition is to strong for a certain keyword or keyword phrase, then it is best you scratch that one for now & put your efforts into a different keyword/phrase that you can dominate asap.
• You cannot hope to make a profit from just one keyword phrase.
You need to have other keyword phrases driving visitors to
different pages of your site, so you need to build a list of such
words as quickly and easily as possible. The simplest way of
doing this is to see what your competition is using for keywords and use them yourself. This strategy will help you build your keyword list as well as strengthening you position in the search engine results.
One cool tool that I use is from our friends at Yahoo.
Yahoo Site Explorer is a winner in my book. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com
This free tool can provide you with loads of info on your keyword competition. You can easily discover things like the all powerfull backlinks that your competition has or doesn’t have.
You can dig deeper into those backlinks and if possible and feasible, simple dupilcate the results for your own pages. For example, if one of the backlinks is to a comment on a blog – you post a comment on the same blog and try to provide more info in your comment than did your competitor.
With a bit of imagination and this as well as some of the other FREE Keyword Research Tools I talk about in my latest PLR Video Series KEYWORD COMPASS, you are going to be in a much better position to dominate the results page of your chosen keywords and phrases.
